The Program Objective is to reduce the food insecurity of the families by promoting non-farm based economic activities and facilitating them to access government social security benefits. Linking women with livelihood leads to safeguard their rights, provision of equal opportunities and ensuring full participation in the society we undertake different right based intervention. Sustainable options for livelihood are focused on the strengthening of livelihood of marginalized communities through capacity building on non-farming methods and livestock development.
In Narsapur Mandal of West Godavari district, GAMANA has registered a Company called Vasista Godavari Lace Made-ups Producer Company Limited (VGLMPC Ltd). More than two thousand beneficiaries were trained in different enterprise, technical, vocational and skill trainings and also more than five hundreds were supported with productive assets to make the economically sustainable. Also, linkages building, exposure visit and formation of Common Interest Groups (CIGs) were the main activities to strengthen the community and to reduce their vulnerability. During the project more than thirty common interest groups were formed in different trades.
Crash course on advance level embroidery, color combination and product development was imparted in batches. During the training more than 38 finished products (ready to sell) were prepared by the participants who were fully handed over to the trainees and their common interest groups (CIGs). The separate account was opened with ICICI Bank in the name of VGLMPC Ltd for e-marketing.
It is emerging as brand of ladies suits, cushions, mobile & laptop Covers, hand bags and many more; the products stitched and designed by the beneficiaries were presented on various exclusive exhibitions. The VGLMPC Ltd became famous when it caught the eyes of Entrepreneurs and other potential customers in the market.
In Thullur Mandal, between 18-36 years age group of women those who do not know any technical skills and less qualification to get employment are engaged in applique and embroidery works. Tailoring training is also one of the important technical skills for women, because it provides employment and self-employment opportunities to rural women. This self-employment created self-confidence of women; their economic condition is improved from extreme poverty. GAMANA is organizing a series of trainings on advance level cutting and stitching to impart them vocational skills.
